This project is a fantastic example of paver implementation. We used pavers for a gradually sloping walkway, steps, patio and firepit.
.
This project was set on a lakefront property on Mountian Island Lake. The customer requested a walkway down to a level patio where he could visit with guests and host a warm and inviting fire.
As you can see from the pictures, the paver steps and walkway are a wonderful upgrade from the traditional wood steps or slippery grassy walkway that typically leads to the lake front.
Functionality
Like most other hardscape projects this one was also about functionality and useability. To get a better perspective, the last picture on this page provides a fair scaling of the slope of the back yard.
The the slope it'self is not uncommon for lakefront properties. However, it leaves the yard unuseable. This is a typical compromise for lakefront luxury living but our client wanted a solution for it.
By using a graduated slope for the first section of the walkway and then moving into steps leading to a level patio, we were able to avoid the more expensive solution of a multi-tiered system of retaining walls.
This particular approach to meeting the customers desire for a patio & firepit also provided him with a clean & sturdy pathway to his lake side dock.
